RIP K-9 Riggs: Forever in Our Hearts

With heavy hearts, we must share the heartbreaking news that K-9 Riggs has been found. After a week of searching, we discovered that he was struck by a vehicle and tragically did not survive. This is a devastating loss for all of us, and while this was not the outcome we had so desperately hoped for, we are incredibly thankful for the unwavering support of our community during this incredibly difficult time.
Riggs wasn’t just a station dog—he was a member of our family, a loyal companion who gave so much of himself in service. His work alongside his handler and the entire team was exceptional. But beyond his skills and dedication, Riggs brought a warmth and spirit that made him so much more than a working dog. He was a friend, a confidant, and a symbol of strength and reliability to all of us who had the privilege of knowing him.
We want to express our deepest gratitude to everyone who helped during the search. Whether you shared posts, handed out flyers, volunteered to search, made donations, or simply kept Riggs in your thoughts and prayers, your support has meant more than words can express. In times like these, the kindness of a community becomes a lifeline, and we truly felt that lifeline in the form of the outpouring of love and support we received.
To all the residents of Midlothian, your compassion has been a comfort to us in our grief. We are so grateful for the way you rallied around us, standing with us in our time of need. Your kindness will not be forgotten.
While Riggs may no longer be with us in body, his spirit will forever live on in our hearts. His unwavering loyalty and dedication to service will be remembered by all who worked with him, and the love he gave to his team will continue to guide us forward.
Rest in peace, Riggs. You will forever remain a part of our family, and your memory will always hold a special place in our hearts. Thank you for everything, sweet boy.
